The Hilton hotel family includes many other brands (Doubletree, Conrad, Waldorf Astoria, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, Homewood Inn) and its network is one of the most extensive in the world. Hilton redemptions can cost a LOT of points, with their top-tier hotels going for 95,000 points/night, but you can find some good value in the points if you stay 4 or more nights. These 4- night discounts, called VIP or GLON awards, are the only way I ever redeem Hilton points. The best part about HHonors points is that they are so easily acquired through credit card signups—I pretty much have a constant stream of points flowing into my account.
Special deals: VIP/GLON awards show up automatically on Hilton’s online searches if you are signed into your account and you are an elite.
VIP awards are available only to “elite” Hilton members (silver, gold, diamond) for stays from 4-14 nights in category 3-7 hotels. VIP awards give you a 15% discount on 4-night stays, a 20% discount on 5-night stays (identical to “5th night free” promos), and a 25% discount on 6+ night stays. For example, a 6-night stay in a category 4 hotel would normally cost 180,000 points, but with a VIP award it would cost 135,000 points (25% discount)
